It’s good to be completely honest before the Lord. If not, then the frustrations may get vented elsewhere and that’s dangerous. I’ve told God recently that I’m not satisfied. I did my best to say this in non-complaining or whining manner. I suppose you could say I presented my case before him almost like in a court room. I brought my evidence too. I’ve been collecting His promises the last four years in my lime-green bible verse journal.
There are too many verses to read all of them in one sitting. Instead I reminded God of all the incredible promises he whispered to me when I followed Jesus into the valleys, the fire, and the deep waters.
God is so good and faithful. In my quiet time, He opened my eyes and flooded my heart with great hope when I read this familiar verse again:
Matthew 5:6Expanded Bible (EXB)
6 They are blessed who hunger and thirst after justice [righteousness], for they will be satisfied [filled].
Ah ha! It is okay to not be satisfied! I’m not satisfied until my household believes and serves God together. I’m not satisfied until I can properly tithe to my church. I’m not satisfied until I can act upon and support the causes the Lord has placed deeply in my heart. I’m not satisfied until I can openly follow Jesus. I’m not satisfied today. However it is written that I will be fully satisfied! What a promise! This verse is going into my bible verse journal.
How you ever been in a waiting room for a very long time? I remember one time I waited over an hour to see a medical specialist. I was very impatient back then and so I was fuming and my resentment growing exponentially in the latter 15 minutes. I don’t want to wait in this manner for the promises of God to get fulfilled in my life. His word says he provides us with many blessings for our enjoyment and so, I’ll look and enjoy these blessings as I wait. There must be a very good eternal reason why the waiting is taking longer. I’ll be praying for you to wait with ease and peace for your promises. Pray likewise for me too. Thank you so much! -From the heart with love.
1 Timothy 6:17The Voice (VOICE)
17 …fix your hope on God, the One who richly provides everything for our enjoyment.
Another reflection:
Jesus said we are the salt of the earth. He also said we must be good salt. I dawned on me that good salt makes others very thirsty. If I’m a good salt then I should be making people around me very thirsty to know my God. Let’s live joyfully and peacefully in God’s love through the power of Jesus Christ so that people near us become very thirsty! 🙂 I love this old prophesy promise:
Zechariah 8:23New Living Translation (NLT)
23 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: In those days ten men from different nations and languages of the world will clutch at the sleeve of one Jew. And they will say, ‘Please let us walk with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
Matthew 5:13New Living Translation (NLT)
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor?
