Good Wine.

My husband and I just came back from a weekend trip to the Napa Valley, California. We went there for our anniversary. Napa and Sonoma are known for amazing wineries, beautiful landscapes and great food. We visited several wineries, touring their vineyards and wine-making facilities. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

When my husband saw that I was taking my faith to a level that seemed ‘cult-like’ to him, he was concerned. I can understand him. I went from having no faith and interest in my religion to waking up early to pray, reading the bible daily and seeking regular Christian fellowship. So when he learned that the self-empowered motivational speaker, Tony Robbins was coming to our area he pressured me to attend the conference. I don’t know his exact reasons but perhaps he wanted me to get into a more self-reliant belief. Continue reading I’m a fire walker. 

Prayer Changes Things.

I titled this writing from a place of faith. What is faith according to the bible? I like this translation for its simplicity and clarity:

What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead.

This past summer was rough for me because doubts about prayer tossed me around like rough sea waves and made me very seasick. Circumstances and relationships discouraged me too. Usually my weekly Christian fellowship is a calm refueling oasis for me but there were too few opportunities this past spring and summer.  Continue reading Prayer Changes Things.
