Gift of Obedience

My son’s third grade class was reading and studying autobiographies. For his home writing assignments, I borrowed many books on a wide range of historical figures. It was interesting to see the people he chose to read about. I was surprised to find that I knew so little about many historical people. I read through them all. I find children’s autobiography books easy and good to read! 😁

It’s too bad my son didn’t pick Mother Teresa. I read a great children’s book with wonderfully touching illustrations about her. The book is called, “Mother Teresa” by Margaret McElderry. I took pictures with my phone on pages that really touched me because I wanted to reflect back.

I loved how Mother Teresa said she has the gift of obedience. I never thought of this as a gift but you know what, it truly is! And like all gifts from God, it’s invaluable, precious and good. Years ago I never thought I’ll pray this for myself since my misconceptions of God were so messed up. But now that I know better, I pray better too. Now I can pray for this gift of obedience without fear. Because I really believe obeying God is the best thing for me and my loved ones. It’s not easy to always obey but life will be fuller and more abundant just as Jesus promised.

From my experience when I obey first before seeing the outcomes or fully agreeing with the godly principles, then eventually I get to see that the outcomes are good and I also become persuaded that the godly principle is good and full of wisdom too. You’ll never know until you try this for yourself. God is very clear to me when He wants me to obey about something important. Listen and then just obey.

I’ve attached few pictures I took from the Mother Teresa book. I hope you can see the writings. It’s worth reading the whole book. I hope you get a chance to read it. God bless you! With love.

Mother Teresa
“I listen to the Lord and I have the gift of obedience. Because of that, miracles follow. From the first call, and the call within the call, my life seems to have a Divine Plan. Divine Providence is much greater than our little minds and will never let us down.”
