Through my small group, a beautiful sweet lady came into my life in January. Her friend in our group asked us to pray for her because out of nowhere she became very ill and then got diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. My heart ached for her very much because she has two children near my kids’ ages.
Three of us from our group were able to visit her shortly after. We prayed for her and encouraged her in the faith. We also helped practically by coordinating meal deliveries for her family. Through this the number of people that helped and prayed for her grew and grew. We even had a day of prayer for her and covered her by the hour for a full day. Strangers helping and praying for her because of our sisterly bond through Jesus Christ – this is so beautiful! Now there’s about a hundred people that receives my emails on updates and prayer requests for her! Praise God!
It’s been over six months now. When we first visited her in January, her situation was very grave. A top NYC hospital for cancer released her without treatment. By the grace of God, we didn’t see the situation through our physical eyes but through our spiritual eyes. We were also studying the book of Acts in our group and so this study prepared our own minds and strengthened our faith beforehand. By the grace and power of God, our prayers were being answered step by step, and she was manifesting health and strength. The hospital started chemotherapy for her too.
Her attitude has always been so grateful and sweet, not bitter or self-pitying. She is a powerful testimony. When the hospital did a CAT scan recently, it showed her stomach cancer is shrinking. But the cancer has spread to other parts as well. We were all devastated to hear this report. As I retreated to pray for her with doubt and discouragement, I vividly remember hearing this within me so clearly, “Daddy’s got this.” These words repeated over and over again. I don’t call God “Daddy” so it was just so different and so warm to hear this. My great distress was replaced by great peace and love. My sadness was replaced by hope and joy. With that I was able to encourage her and all my praying warriors the next day.
It’s not a coincidence that our bible study leader came into contact with a local healing ministry church. I encouraged her to go there for prayers. She went! Even the Catholic Church that she attends is hosting an international healing minister on June 25! I don’t think that’s common for a Catholic Church. She’s planning to attend. Praise God!
She’s still aggressively receiving chemotherapy and now targeted radiation treatments too. Please keep her in your prayers. Though I can’t share her name here, God knows who she is when you pray. Now I’ll always remember this when situation looks very grave – “Daddy’s got this.” Praise God! Thank you so much for your prayers! God bless you! I’ll keep you posted. – With love from my heart.
Ephesians 3:20-21 Message (MSG)
God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
Glory to God in the church!
Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!
Glory down all the generations!
Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!
4/22/2020 – During this social isolation from COVID-19, I been having extra time to read through my old journals. Wow I’m encouraging myself with my old posts. Praise God!
Unfortunately this lady did not make it. She did get better and went into remission because of the many prayers for her. However once she got better she went back to her old ways to keep healthy – yoga. I also think her religious mom who is Catholic didn’t help. She retreated from my contacts. When her cancer came back instead of pursuing what worked before, she went to Mexico and received alternative and holistic healthcare. I pleaded with her to stop but she didn’t listen. She died in Mexico. It was very sad.
Yes, daddy’s got this. But we have to listen and follow His guidance and direction based on the Bible, surround ourselves with mature believers in the faith who know more than we do. May the Lord redeem this family and her children. 🙏
