It’s been five years since I’ve recommitted my life back to Christ. One of the very first thing I’ve asked was that my entire family would know Jesus as Lord and Savior. I thought it’ll happen soon enough. Haha. I didn’t know that I’ll still be waiting. I’ve had my share of frustrations and questions, and trying to understand why it’s taking so long. Now I’m at a place of waiting with quiet contentment. It’s really the smart thing to do.
I couldn’t help but notice that just as we parents prepare and bring along many activities for our kids to do during a long wait, likewise God as our good Father gives me many things to do to keep me busy and occupied. Without these busy opportunities, the waiting would be unbearable! (This should sound familiar if you interact with kids much.)
Here are some opportunities God may bring to you while you are waiting. My advice is to take them because it’ll make your wait time go faster and it’s for your own good. 🙂 Here are some examples of activities in the waiting room:
-God blesses me with many service opportunities both at my church and the kid’s school. It’s fun and interesting even though some drama. I learn a lot from these experiences too.
-God blesses me with time to read and learn His ways of doing and living life on earth. His knowledge is far better than mine so it’s good for me to learn as much as possible.
-God blesses me with very cool places to visit. My husband wants our kids to experience world travel. So far, we’ve visited Arizona, California, other countries Canada, Italy and France. Not to mention more relaxing resort destinations as Florida, Mexico, and Turks and Caicos. I think next summer we are heading to South Korea!
-God blesses me with planning and enjoying many events as my daughter’s bat mitzvah and other parties/get together with family and friends.
As you can see God, our Dad does a great job of keeping me busy in the waiting room, including working on my writing. Therefore I really can’t say, “This waiting is unbearable!” If you are saying this, then perhaps you’ve declined God’s offers to keep you busy. No worries, they are still there waiting for you! 🙂 Take them and so that you can enjoy your life even while waiting. I’ll be praying for you in your waiting. Please pray for me too. With love from my heart.
I like Charles Stanley’s devotional on the strength in waiting. May It bless you too!
