Believe

Luke 1:45 – You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.

It’s been four months since I’ve been living out my word of the year “Believe”. (I follow the academic year so it started early September.) Luke 1:45 is my backbone verse for my word, and the Holy Spirit has been faithfully giving me other scriptures to keep on encouraging and inspiring me to stand firm on my word “Believe”.

The Lord has been blessing our prayer group with many answered prayers lately. Praise God! Nevertheless I still am surprised whenever I hear a quickly answered prayers especially for the big requests. I’m discovering how much unbelief I have in my heart when I ask in prayer. And how much my mind comes up with logical ways the answered prayers came about. My word “Believe” is surely the right word for me to cultivate!

I was reading this morning when Jesus pulled over a little child and told his disciples that they must become like little children to be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:1-4). In my old college bible I wrote on the side, “Lord, what does it mean to be a little child?” – 3/1/96. Well, little children seem to believe quite easily.

Growing up as an illegal immigrant in America and without godly faith as a guide from my parents, I barely remember what it’s like to be a little child. Well, by the power and grace of the Holy Spirit living within me, God will help to believe like a little child. Little children are very enthusiastic and joyful with expectations. I’ll be asking in prayer to have more of these characteristics too. As I’m getting to know Jesus more; I bet he was fun to be with on earth. Please keep me in your prayers as I live out my word “Believe” for the rest of the year. Thank you so much! Xo

Here are other scriptures that I’ve added so far to my word Believe:

Genesis 15:6 – And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.

2 Corinthians 5:7 – For we live by believing and not by seeing.

John 6:29 – Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”

Acts 16:31 – They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”

Matthew 19:26 – Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”

Luke 1:37 – “For with God nothing will be impossible.” (Angel Gabriel said to Mary.)

Hebrews 4:3 (TPT) – For those of us who believe, faith activates the promise and we experience the realm of confident rest!

When you pray and you ask for something, believe that you have received it and you will be given what you asked for” (Mark 11:24 GNT)

Hebrews 11:6 (ESV) – And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Ephesians 1:19-20 – I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
