Woke Church

Past month I listened and read countless Christian leaders and teachers about the “Black Lives Matter” movement. I think a good prayer intercessor listens more than speaks so that we can pray strategically and with godly wisdom, and not lead corporate prayers by our opinions and personal beliefs.

In this period of learning and seeking wisdom on how to pray that is where I learned about the “Woke Church”. I have never heard this terminology but now I see how sneakily the enemy has infiltrated the church in America with this subtle, divisive and evil way.

Our women’s prayer group is still meeting by phone conference calls and continuing our intercession for our country and the body of Christ, the church. However now with more information I can pray more strategically and with understanding.

In the last month we prayed so much for the black communities in America. From my research, I learned that the abortion rate is the highest in this group and that majority are households from single parents. We prayed about the current legal situation that was created during the Clinton administration that put people in jail so easily and without bail money, only the poor are jailed. There are many more issues that we prayed about for our black communities. And like Daniel, I also repented for my people, the body of Christ for our sins of neglect, omission and unholy anger.

I’ve been praying about my own investment and involvement on lifting black lives. However, the Holy Spirit has been redirecting my focus back to human trafficking of children and young people. For a while this matter was placed on the shelf, and I think it was because I wasn’t able to handle the atrocious stories with my children being the same ages. I gave financially to organizations that help as best as I can, but for the most part I was kept away in a safe distance, until now.

I’m not sure what I’ll be lead to do but I sense the Holy Spirit blowing the wind of my sails towards this fight again. With my children being teenagers now perhaps the stories of little children being tortured and raped will not affect my soul as much.

Back to the “Woke Church” – here are some things that I’ve learned if you want to hear so you can pray strategically and with discernment. Just like the picture on this post, it’s a wolf in disguise that has infiltrated the churches in America. If you see this infiltration of the enemy in your church and leadership, please pray corporately and with a clean heart. There is more faith, focus and accountability when you pray together. Plus Jesus said he’ll be in our midst!!

9/1/2020 – In the past few weeks since this posting, the Holy Spirit has been changing my heart towards somewhere in the middle about the involvement of the church on social injustices. One thing is for sure, we must use the word of God as our plumb line, daily adjusting ourselves and our motives. If we harbor any bitterness and unforgiveness, then we need to step aside and take care of these personal demons within or else the enemy will create havoc, division and destruction wherever we go to participate. That’s my opinion. O Lord, help your people and have mercy on us for your namesake. 🙏

9/2/20 – This sermon notes and bible verses compiled by pastor Rick Warren tells you a little bit why bitter and resentful believers cause so much destruction and division. These believers need to take care of this sin before moving forward in anything else. (Having trouble linking the pdf. Will try finding it on their website.) https://sb-web.s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/saddleback.com/connect/ministry/coronavirus-response/ricks-weekend-emails/8-29-20/TalkItOver-A+Faith+That+Doesnt+Hold+On+To+Hurt-082920+(2).pdf

9/5 – this young minister is always very encouraging and good. I really like his sermon about the root of bitterness. https://youtu.be/lT14QHvmE4U
