When you feel like giving up…

2 Chronicles 16:9 – For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

Deuteronomy 33:26-29 – “There is no one like the God of Jeshurun,
Who rides the heavens to help you,
And in His excellency on the clouds.
27 The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before you,
And will say, ‘Destroy!’
28 Then Israel shall dwell in safety,
The fountain of Jacob alone,
In a land of grain and new wine;
His heavens shall also drop dew.
29 Happy are you, O Israel!
Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord,
The shield of your help
And the sword of your majesty!
Your enemies shall submit to you,
And you shall tread down their high places.”

Isaiah 59:16 – So shall they fear
The name of the Lord from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the sun;
When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.

Corrie ten Boom once said that we do Bible study in order to be prepared for victory. I’ll have to find her exact words but I think she meant that the battles will always come on this earth, but we always can have victory in Christ Jesus as long as we are prepared in advance.

Yesterday I took Alex to her well-visit with her pediatrician. Dr Kullman was very firm and yet kind to Alex about the deadly and destructive path that she is heading towards. I pray that these serious warnings will be ingrained into her mind to receive help from others and to get better herself.

I never realized how strong-willed and stubborn Alex is. Much more than I was at her age. As she is sharing more, her mental state is much darker and twisted than I had anticipated. Last night I went to bed feeling defeated and weak.

Dr Kullman gave Alex three options: 1. Go to the hospital and get intensive in-treatment 2. Take a semester off and get out-patient treatment at home 3. Go back to Indiana University and get out-patient treatment there with close supervision from us. Of course, Alex chose option 3.

Last night as I was talking with Evan, he shared that it’s difficult for him to have Alex back home especially having to share bathroom. He must hear much more unsettling noises from Alex being near her room and sharing bathroom.

Today I will reach out to the therapist that Dr Kullman recommended for Alex. I pray that she’ll have availability. I will also speak with Indiana University’s counseling center about their services for eating disorders. They seem to have a very good service center for the students, offering free group sessions, nutritionists and private therapy for a nominal fee. I learned from my research readings that 20% of college women and 5-10% of men in the USA have eating disorders! Therefore, colleges are required by the federal government to offer these services for students. These numbers are pre-Covid and I’m sure the numbers are much higher post-Covid since the wait list to get into any inpatient treatment center in the USA is 6 months and longer. The only way one can get in is if one tries to kill oneself or near death from the eating disorder. How so sad.

This morning as I was praying these Bible verses popped up in my mind and this picture that I found while back. I feel like this lady. I am also comforted to know and believe that Jesus’ big mighty hand is over me and sheltering me too. I am reminded about the footprint poem where Jesus carries you in the hardest parts of life. Well this is definitely that harder part.

I better eat more food for myself. When I’m in stressful situation I don’t have an appetite. I’m losing weight. Please pray for me to eat more so I can be physically prepared and strong too. Thank you for holding me and my family up in your prayers.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Casting Crowns song, “Praise you in the storm” ministered to me last night – https://youtu.be/0YUGwUgBvTU

Found the quote by Corrie ten Boom: “Jesus is Victor. Calvary is the place of victory. Bible study and prayer is the preparation for victory.”
