1. As I was thinking about all the great injustice and wars that are happening simultaneously throughout the world; I wondered how long the war in Ukraine will continue. It is really, truly remarkable that they have held up for so long against a great military giant like Russia. I believe it’s because there are many people in and from Ukraine who are believers of Jesus Christ and they are praying and fasting nonstop. Today is day 52 of their war. – I joined Pastor Madava’s church in Kyiv, Ukraine on Facebook group. Every Wednesdays and Sundays, I am so happy to see that they are still having services. Since there are no subtitles I have no idea what they are saying but they sing worship songs that I recognize. 2. I know life is very stressful and overwhelming right now in our own country, churches, communities and families. At times, it feels like we have nothing else to give or pray – however I am not sure if we have the luxury to check out or sit on the sidelines. You are needed as a believer of Jesus Christ, especially your prayers for others. When you feel like you are running on empty, please be still and meditate on God’s word in the Bible immediately and fuel yourself up for at least 15-30 minutes. Afterwards, leave and do what is necessary. That’s what I have been doing for eleven years and this system works.
This testimony may offend you. I remember it offended me when I first read it. But now I understand more and no longer object or am offended by it. I accept it and flow with the principal. I read this true story from A21 newsletter maybe ten years ago. A21 combats human trafficking, mainly sexual exploitation. Three young Muslim girls were kidnapped from their country and sold to a brothel in Greece. They were abused until they learned to submit themselves to their captors. They had to service 20-30 clients per day. They were praying to their Allah God fervently for help and rescue. They received and heard nothing despite their daily cries and prayers.
One day after seeing a picture of Jesus Christ on the cross (they didn’t even know the name of Jesus), the girls prayed to Jesus, calling him the “European God”. The next day, the brothel was raided by the police and the girls were rescued. Authorities reached out to A21 to help the girls and others rescued in this raid.
God has His conditions for answering prayers. If God answered these young girls’ prayers for rescue when they were praying to Allah, then it would be almost impossible for them to turn to Jesus Christ for their eternal salvation. We must have an eternal perspective about everything. This helps us to have some peace about the suffering of this world or when suffering hits us and our loved ones.
As you are praying for Ukraine or for another matter, please have faith that God hears your prayers because you pray through Jesus Christ and be encouraged that God is and will be answering your prayers in His perfect goodness and timing.
3. I just realized that Jewish Passover and Christian Easter both started yesterday! What a wonderful coincidence. I hope and pray that this is a good sign of things to come.
