Masquerade Dream

I’ve had this bizarre dream before. I had it again yesterday but probably a lot more vividly and much more remembered than before. Here is what I saw as best as possibly recalled and written in words.

I was in a city alone, kind of like NYC’s Greenwich Village area. It was turning dark and I was trying to find a way to get back home before evening sets in. It didn’t feel safe to be in the city alone. Then I started to see all these young people showing up and they were dressed up like for a masquerade party. At first it was only a few here and there, and then not too long after I saw countless young people wearing and joining this masquerade parade. They all had a similar costume theme of wearing all yellow – flowing long dresses, gowns and capes and also wearing black masks or painted faces of demonic black creatures. They were all entering a posh, gothic-like hotel. They were reverent, respectful and also full of excitement. They were quietly murmuring as they were walking towards the hotel and like in a parade, they were orderly and respectful. No one was pushing or running but walking calmly and respectfully to this hotel. This hotel had a a very big entrance.

I was intimidated at first by the young people’s appearances and their scary masks but after a while I saw that they were really teenagers and young adults. I gathered enough courage to ask a group of three teen girls, what is going on and why is everyone going into that hotel. The girls turned to me politely and said that there is a great conference happening at the hotel and everyone dressed up per their expectations can enter. Then they turned away and joined the throngs of young people dressed in yellow with demonic masks, and headed towards the hotel with a very big entrance. I watched until these three girls entered the hotel and disappeared from my sight. The hotel was very big and could take every single person coming to their masquerade event. I had a foreboding feeling that this hotel was hosting a dark cult event. Eventually I turned away from watching, remembering that I should leave the city. Watching these kids entering the hotel was very hypnotic and putting me in a trance.

As in previous dreams, I would wake up while trying to figure out how to take the public transit to get back home. Except this time, when I woke up from this dream, I heard a somber bible verse “the wages of sin is death.” Sin pays wages too but its payment for all their hard-work is death.

How different the wages that Jesus pays for his workers! Jesus’ salary for us is his eternal life, love, grace, compassion, support, comfort, mercies, protection and also good, wholesome things to enjoy.

On Sunday, at my church a guest pastor spoke about minimizing the noise around us to hear God’s voice. At the end of his message, there was a moment at the end to hear what God was saying to us. I heard the Bible verse “precious in the sight of God is the death of his saints.” Usually I’d refer this psalm verse to the actual death of saints but at this moment, I felt that it was also about laying down our lives and self-will to be used by God for His purposes. I felt like the Holy Spirit was telling me that this voluntary death of his saints is precious in God’s sight. There are saints who do not fully die to themselves and just do what pleases them.

Going back to this disturbing masquerade dream. The young people are convinced that they will find community, acceptance and exciting experiences in this posh hotel. They are already dressed up for the masquerade party and won’t hear any warnings even if Christians all become courageous enough to speak out trying to convince the young people otherwise. Young people are already dressed up and spent their energy, money and time to gather at this hotel. They are not going to turn around because of anyone’s preaching. It is too late. We need a revival or a Great Awakening in our country to stop the young people from entering this posh hotel of death with a very wide entrance.

Currently I’m seeing more younger children joining this masquerade parade. Now they are joining the parade before turning double digits in age. Instead of being demoralized, I am hopeful because then that means more younger parents and grandparents will pray with parents of teenagers and young adults in desperation for a revival to save their young children and grandchildren. There are also a lot of religious traditions and practices that do not offer any transformation. Hopefully these traditions will be discarded by the older people since they don’t work to save lives.

As I was wondering why the masquerade party required the attendees to wear all yellow, I found this interesting article about the psychological impact of the color yellow. It was interesting. I personally like the color yellow and find it cheerful, warm, hopeful, safe and fun. Perhaps this color was selected to easily deceive the kids and the unguarded parents about the real intentions behind the hotel’s masquerade party. https://www.colorsexplained.com/color-yellow-meaning-of-the-color-yellow/
