John MacArthur’s mega church, his study bible and many commentaries books, and his podcasts are used widely by many Christians, including me. However after reading this news from an inside whistleblower, I am having great difficulty with his and his church responses to the allegations. Please read this article for yourself. Korea’s Confucius culture has always put women as third class citizens and violence against women and children have always been acceptable and tolerated until modern times ever since Christianity swept across the country after the Korean War in 1950s. Because of the long violence and injustices against women, many women including myself became fierce feminists as we have found our freedom. 

When I read stories like this happening in the church, I am stirred up with a lot of anger.  I remember the night before I came across this Christian news in the morning, the Holy Spirit said to me before falling asleep, “Be angry and do not sin.”  I was wondering why but now I understand why he gave me a heads up. 

After thinking and praying about it for few days; I do believe that I’m supposed to share this information with you.  Especially since I am appalled by John MacArthur and his church’s lack of humility and remorse after this article was released.  Today I deleted his podcast from my phone and anything else that I receive from his church.  

Another discussion that came up in our bible study group is a very good advice for all women and children.  If anyone hits you once, DO NOT give this person another chance.  Run away from the relationship and friendship immediately!  Relationship violence on women is on the rise in our country and the world.  Since christians are taught to love and bear all things, sometimes they tolerate physical violence and this is exactly how the church leadership at John MacArthur’s church advised their women who came to them about their physically abusive husbands who also were sexually molesting their own children.    

Please pray for John MacArthur and his church.  I pray that they come to a place of deep repentance and remorse with this publicity.  So far they are not doing this and therefore, I have deleted all teachings from him and his church.  Please pray about this for yourself too if you do follow him.

I love what one member of our bible study group said – she said, “we need to be good fruit inspectors.” I agree. Be a very good fruit inspector of your church leadership and church friends. It’s okay to inspect closely and to run away from bad company. Please, please teach your children and teenagers about this spiritual principal. Our church kids can be too kind and so naive. On a brighter and happier note, there is a revival that started at this small Christian college in Kentucky. Please read about it and let us pray for them.
