Esther: Purim + Lord, Take Me Deeper Into Your Word

Since our ladies prayer group is called the Esther prayer group, I want to share that this past Tuesday was the Jewish Purim day. It’s a religious holiday to celebrate and remember the time when Esther saved her Jewish people through her bravery and courage. Here’s a short devotional about Esther. The main takeaway is that we must fear God more than we fear people. https://www.ifcj.org/learn/holy-land-moments/daily-devotionals/fear-god-more-than-people

If you’ve never read the book of Esther, please read it. It’s not super long, 10 chapters. Here’s the VOICE version since they give you some background information to help you understand better. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Esther%201&version=VOICE

Esther was a very bold and brave young lady. Her boldness made me look up this article. Please take a read if you are wondering what righteous boldness is. How Are the Righteous as Bold as a Lion?christianity.com

I also shared chapter 8 from the Praying Woman book with my prayer group. I’m not able to attach it here so please purchase one if you’d like to follow along with us. https://www.amazon.com/Power-Praying%C2%AE-Woman-Stormie-Omartian/dp/0736957766

Please read this chapter carefully and do what the author tells you to do. Her advice were accurate and excellent. I wake up early about 4:30-5am to spend an hour or two immersing myself with the Word of God and in prayer everyday. I probably sleep about 6 hours a day but God has given me grace to sleep six hours and be completely fine. Without this daily Bible bread and communion with God in prayer; I know the confusion, anxieties, sadness and loneliness will all quickly rush back. And so why would I want to ever regress?! Please don’t just pray and listen to worship music. You MUST read and study the Bible daily especially in stormy times. In the long run, you’ll save yourself more time, money and energy because you will make less mistakes in life decisions, work and relationships.

Please reflect on these pictures that I saved because I find living life with Jesus to be quite adventurous and challenging! It requires lots of courage and maybe this is why I pray so much!

The Jewish Celebration of Purim was this past Tuesday, 3/7. It’s the day of celebration because Esther exposed the evil intentions of Haman against her Jewish people. And because of her bravery and speaking out the truth, her people were spared and even won much rewards.

Courage is always a challenge for me. I’m realizing that the key is to have more “Fear of God“ than “Fear of people”. This morning as I was praying about this in a corporate prayer meeting, I saw a balance scale ⚖️ . One side was “Fear of God” and other side was “Fear of men”. If they are equally weighted, then it’s always going to be a balancing act for me to keep it evenly weighted – taking a few lumps off and adding it to the other side, and vice versa, etc.

The solution to end this balancing act is to put all my fears into the “Fear of God” section. Then I slide down into a solid foundation and now I am immovable in God. Lord Jesus, please help me to put all my fears on You! Amen 🙏
