As Americans we don’t realize how Christian persecution is on the rise worldwide. We must pray for our brethren in these hostile countries and see how the Holy Spirit leads us to help them in tangible ways too.

Deborah is the only female judge-prophet of Israel and her ministry is documented in the Book of Judges in the Bible. At the Empower conference the keynote speaker spoke about Deborah. In the 1980s, my science teachers taught evolution as a theory. I remember also learning about creation as a theory too. Therefore, my science teachers offered me two options to choose from. Since I had a supernatural experience at the middle school Christian summer retreat, it was easy for me to choose creationism. However,, many of our young people never experienced the supernatural encounter with God’s presence. Therefore, I don’t blame them for choosing the theory of evolution. I don’t know how they teach this topic at public schools these days, but my hunch is that they teach it as a fact rather than as a theory. Why Even Top Scientists Are Doubting Evolution
For me, my main issue was giving lordship to Jesus Christ. This has always been my struggle…even today. I always have to be careful and be on guard about my motives and pride. Couple of books made a huge impact for me. First was the “Case for Christ” by Lee Strobel. Second was “Just as I am” by Billy Graham. It’s his autobiography. This one story shared really caught me. In 1950s, Billy Graham was in his mid-20s and he had a good ministry friend who was enrolled in Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ. Billy Graham also went through seminary school but a less prestigious one in Florida. Long story short, his good friend was being taught about the errancies of the Bible and this greatly disturbed him. He left the ministry soon after graduation and pursued his own desires in life. Billy Graham had great doubts after their discussions too, but he decided to believe the Bible – all of it as the word of God. They met up again much later. Both men were in their 70s now. His friend was on his 3rd of 4th marriage and he lived a decent life and was successful in the eyes of the world. But when he met up with Billy Graham, he wept and said that he really, really misses Jesus. His friend recommitted his life back to Jesus Christ in his 70s. If you want to know what a fully committed life in Jesus looks like, then please read Billy Graham’s autobiography. It’ll give you an idea of what you are in for when you give lordship to Jesus Christ. It’s pretty adventurous and at times dangerous too! For someone like me who mostly wants stability and safety, it can be very challenging. Some people love adventure and danger so this may not be a struggle for them…maybe they will become an evangelist like Billy Graham. You will also learn a lot about modern USA and world history through his life. He was a spiritual advisor to many of our presidents and world leaders.
People need spiritual encounters. In the absence of God encounters in the church communities, they will go elsewhere. This woman made a living by new age practices. Please hear her testimony and how God caught her attention through her atheist boyfriend.

I found the poster for this year’s Empower event in case you want to see who spoke. I just started to read the “Crucial Conversation” book and it’s really, really good. I’m seeing how most people don’t know how to engage in crucial discussions. This is why so many relationships fail. There is a very high cost to these failures in personal life, work places, government and between nations. I also read the news enough to know that this can happen. This is the time to prepare and plan ahead, and pray for God’s grace and mercy for our country and family.
