Parenting Summit + Fruit of the Holy Spirit + Got Questions + Daniel 2 + TSC Stories

I signed up this week for a free parenting summit, and I have been blown away by their experts’ advice. I read many articles/books and heard numerous podcasts about parenting ever since I became a parent. Mainly, because I had no idea what to do and I wanted to do differently than the previous generation. This parent summit put together 45 leading experts with successful strategies in the field of parenting. This week when it was available for free, I heard 9 experts. I was so impressed by their advice that I bought their full access for only $120. (I added the anger management package too) This is a bargain!! Sometimes when I am discouraged, I do retail therapy at TJ Maxx or Target and this costs me about that much. So, drop your one retail theray shopping, and buy this parenting summit and even gift it to your adult children if you are a grandparent. You can listen to 45 experts in your own time and at your pace.

I have read many Christian books for parents and heard so many podcasts for parents from “Focus on the Family” and other Christian ministry for parents. Therefore, I know that their advice is consistent with what the Christian experts teach parents, minus God and prayer. This parenting summit is secular. Just like when we take medicine to help our bodies per our doctor’s recommendation; ask the Holy Spirit to help you gleam only the positives from this summit and remove any negative, non-biblical advice. If your spouse/friends/family members won’t listen to Christian experts, then they might listen to these experts.

The hardest thing for me when I listen to Christian parenting experts was that I couldn’t implement many of their spiritual practices because my husband is not a Christian – for example, church attendance, family Bible readings, and praying together. However, whatever spiritual thing that I could do, I did do – such as praying for my children. Because this was the only thing that I could do, they are probably the most prayed upon children. 🙂

My children were ages 8 and 4 when I committed myself back to God. The very first thing that God worked on was my bad temper and anger management. This is why I cried so much the first two years. It felt like death to my flesh and it was. I discovered that Bible reading/studying kept my angry outbursts in check. That’s one reason why I read the Bible so much. Now, I read/study the Bible because it is so good for my soul, spirit and body. I also love to understand the history behind the characters and customs of that ancient time. It’s fascinating.

If the Lord didn’t get me back on track, I am certain I would have yelled regularly as my children were growing. Apparently, yelling at your children impacts their brain negatively in permanent ways! The founder of Strategic Parenting put together this parent summit because of the great increase in parent burnout and the terrible impact it’s having on the children and families worldwide.

Whenever you receive advice and counsel from your Christian friends, counselors, pastors and leaders; please be a good fruit inspector of their lives. Age, degrees, bible verses memorized, etc don’t matter. If you don’t like a Christian or the ministry’s fruit, then please don’t listen to their advice or follow that ministry. That’s why it’s important to get to know your church friends and leaders so that you can examine their spiritual fruit for yourself. Bad tree produces bad fruit, and good tree produces good fruit. Here are two good short articles about the fruit of the Holy Spiritand being a good fruit inspector of yourself and other Christians that you listen to.

What does it mean that you will know them by their fruit in Matthew 7:16?

What is the fruit of the Holy Spirit?

gotquestions.org

When we are led by the Holy Spirit in our spirit, the fruit of our spirit becomes the character of Holy Spirit.

In my Bible studying, I really like “Got Questions” ministry and use it often. Also when I get confused by the many names in the Bible, then I do a quick search on their website. They are very helpful and clear. Got Questions ministry has a new book out on the top questions that people have asked on their website. Here is their new book if you want to check it out:

The 100 Most Asked Questions about God and the Bible: Scripture’s Answers on Sin, Salvation, Sexuality, End Times, Heaven, & More (A Helpful Resource for Everyone from Pastors to New Believers)

If you are doing a weekly reading of the book of Daniel with me, here is chapter 2 and a message from Pastor Gary Hamrick on this chapter.

“I am the 8th generation of preachers, that dates all the way back to the Civil War. My father taught me to pray. He said, ‘David, Elijah had 24 hours a day, just like you, and he prayed. So you find a way to pray.’ And then he would add, ’God always makes a way for a praying man.’ ” — David Wilkerson, founder of Times Square Church in NYC

(By the way, TSC started a weekly testimony night and I love listening to people’s stories. They are so inspiring. Please give it a listen. It is under “Stories/TSC Members” – https://sermons.tsc.nyc/ )
