Daniel 7 + Why study Bible prophecy? + Moses + Jesus curses the fig tree

For those reading the book of Daniel with me, here is Daniel 7. For the next 6 remaining chapters, it’ll be all about Bible prophecies and visions of future world empires. Some have been fulfilled already and others are not yet.

Here is Pastor Hamrick’s message on chapter 7. I did Beth Moore’s Bible study on Daniel about ten years ago if you’re interested in a more detailed study with worksheets. Her study was excellent and very detailed. With her daily homework, it really helped get the information into your brain.

During the pandemic lockdown, I did a study on the book of Revelation with seven different Bible teachers. I referred to many because I wanted to make sure that the consensus and commentaries were correct. Like any Bible study, it’s good to read and listen to various perspectives especially for scriptures in the Bible that are harder to understand. You should also pray for wisdom. It’s the Holy Spirit who wrote these words and so ask in prayer for wisdom and discernment.

Here is a short article by Dr. David Jeremiah on the importance of studying Bible prophecy. When you study the prophetic books in the Bible like the book of Daniel and Revelation, you’ll be amazed and forewarned. God is God. Let us be on His side of human history.

Dr Tony Evans explains the scriptures simply and accurately in my opinion. He just came out with a new book exploring end times prophecy. Here is the book link:

I’ll end my email with a Psalm by Moses, the great prophet of God. He delivered his Jewish people after 400+ years of slavery in Egypt. He has great insights for living one’s life on this Psalm.

A painting that I came across when the Jewish people crossed through the Red Sea. Moses was 80 years old when he finally got God’s seal of approval to go back to Egypt to deliver his people from slavery.

“40 year old vs 80 year old Moses” article is short and right on.

I have been thinking a lot about the story of Jesus cursing the fig tree. It’s not something that we want to think about – our Jesus cursing anything, especially a nice looking fruit tree!

Please read this event documented in the gospel of Mark.

Why did Jesus curse the fig tree?

gotquestions.org

As I was thinking about this bible passage a lot this week, I realized that many people know me as a spiritual person and leader because I lead prayer groups. The cursing of the fig tree is a cautionary tale for everyone, especially those in church leadership; only because people will come up to us first when they are in crisis. It was not my idea to led prayer groups but the Lord’s. I have learned and grown a lot since 2016. I will continue to do this work of prayer intercession until I am relieved from my post. It sure keeps me on my toes!

This short devotional explains the importance of God’s anointing. We all have a ministry, whether we serve in the church or outside. Please read what the anointing will do in our ministry. Let us pray to God for greater anointing and power in our ministry. This glorifies Jesus and brings many people to Him.

Since I know that I must keep a pure heart in order to make great petitions in God’s throne room during corporate prayer meetings, I study the Bible continually. It keeps me from justifying and hiding sin in my life. It also helps me to know God’s will so that I don’t waste time asking for something that is against His will; or worse, go against His will – that’s a losing battle. Here is a good short devotional on actively seeking God to understand Him.
