Hello friends. Recently I’ve been listening to Keith Green songs again. His lyrics and melodies never get old for me. If you never heard his songs before please check them out. I was so intrigued about Keith Green that I read his biography “No Compromise”. It was excellent. During the Jesus Revolution of 1970s in California, many young people became born-again. I also learned from reading his biography that many Christian cults sprouted up. Some of his friends became trapped by them. My key takeaway was that he did not get trapped because he applied daily Bible reading as his discipline. This is why I stress to you that you MUST read the Bible daily and belong to a church community. It’s not an option. It’s vitally necessary. Some of his well-meaning, recently born again friends became deceived by leader-wolves in disguise. Satan sends his people out as “angel of light”. The only way you can safeguard yourself from being deceived by false doctrines and teachers is by knowing your Bible and having relationships with believers in a Bible-based church community. (I’ll have to share with you a message that I wrote about sitting next to an angel at my church in my first few weeks. I’m convinced that she was an angel in disguise, sent to minister to me in my first weeks back at church.)
Going back to Keith Green…here is a ten minute interview of Keith Green’s testimony. As I heard him talking again, I realized that the youth are still seeking and asking these same questions. I pray that we would be the ones that they can come to for answers when earthly pursuits and pleasures come up empty and hollow.
As I was also researching why this revival of 1970s did not reach nationwide and come to the East Coast, I heard from a pastor who got saved during this time in California. He was involved with a team of people who were trying to bring it across the USA. He doesn’t know why but he said it abruptly stopped in Indiana. He was not in leadership position so he’s not sure what happened. What’s interesting is now my daughter attends college in Indiana and we have an organized group of praying parents for Indiana University In Bloomington. Our children and grandchildren being there inspired us to pray together and we have been praying since 2022. Let’s see what God does with our persistent prayers. I was curious when the last nationwide revival was for USA. It’s been a long while. Here was the last one in 1850s and I was surprised to learn that it started in NYC by business people too!
