Hello friends. I am led to share with you Joyce Meyer’s book, Battlefield of the Mind. I have learned a lot from her. Growing up, her family was messed up BIG TIME. Her father was not only verbally abusive but he even sexually molested her regularly once she turned 13 years old. Her mom was so controlled by her husband that she turned the blind eye all through the years of abuse. Joyce Meyer was able to stop her father’s sick abuse once she left her parents’ home at age 18. She grew up at a time when people kept these kinds of family secrets within themselves.
What was amazing to me was how God used only the word of God, the Holy Bible to transform her mind! She did not have access to counselors. She is 81 years old today and so you can imagine how little therapy was available at that time. The only available resources for her was the Bible and the church. It is from this place of victory that she wrote her book, Battlefield of the Mind. She even has a thriving ministry in Bible teaching and helping people practically too. Here is her ministry website: https://joycemeyer.org/
Battlefield of the Mind: Winning the Battle in Your Mind
I hope you know that Satan attacks your mind. This is the reason why I stress the importance of reading your Bible daily. Bible reading is the key to your brain health and wellbeing; it also brings healing and recovery of your mind and soul from any great trauma. Joyce Meyer is prime example of what Bible reading does for your mind and soul. I’m not saying therapy is not necessary for your mental wellbeing; what I am saying is that if you’re not reading and studying the Bible diligently, then you will not have great victory in your life. You will always feel stuck because your mind is not well.
I noticed that Satan often comes to attack my mind right before my sleep time. If I don’t fall asleep after 30 minutes, I get up and engage in my usual battlefield offensive routine – I read my Bible or a Christian book that I am currently reading. I have discovered that Satan hates me studying the Bible or reading a good Christian book that is filled with testimonies and scriptures. Therefore, he generally leaves me alone since he knows that every time I am attacked I automatically start reading my Bible.
I know that for some of you, worship songs give you victory when Satan attacks your mind. That’s wonderful. For me, it doesn’t work very well when I’m worshipping alone. Worship works for me well when it’s in corporate worship. That’s just how God made me. Please figure out what works best for you when Satan comes to attack your mind when you are alone. Please don’t watch TV or TikTok videos or whatever else you watch to reduce anxiety, or scroll through social media. That’s not going to work against a spiritual attack in the evening hours when you are alone. It’ll only reveal to the enemy that they won this battle against you and will continue harassing you again and again. You will continually be exhausted and sick due to your lack of good sleep.
I remember once I discovered this attack of the enemy at nighttime and how to get victory, it became a game of “tit-for-tat”. Because of that, now the enemy for the most part leaves me alone when it is bedtime and so I sleep very well and deeply. Praise the Lord Jesus! Getting a good night sleep is also important for good physical health too. I learned that this is when our bodies are producing good white blood cells that combats viruses and even cancer cells. I used to get sick often throughout the winter months from colds and viruses but now I rarely get sick since I sleep so deeply and well. I noticed that I sleep less hours too. I only require about 6 hours of sleep now.
If you want to be well-rested by sleeping well, then make sure you are on a Bible reading schedule. I follow a Bible reading plan. Generally they are a plan for one year but this time around I am reading it slower and so it’s taking me longer. I’m almost done. After I finish reading through the Bible, I take a break from reading the entire Bible and do a deeper dive into one book of the Bible. What I’m saying is that I NEVER take a break from Bible reading. Why? Because it’s our spiritual food for our soul and spirit. Would you stop eating food for your physical body?
There are many free Bible reading plans available online. Print one out and follow it. This time I bought a Bible that already has the Bible reading plan laid out and I find it very convenient since I don’t have to look up the scriptures. Here it is if you want to get this one:

I always am reading a Christian book too. Currently I am reading the book, The Case for Heaven by Lee Stroebel. It is excellent. https://www.amazon.com/Case-Heaven-Journalist-Investigates-Evidence/dp/0310259193
Here is the testimony of the atheist, art professor I mentioned before. Interestingly, this professor had a near death experience in a medical emergency while visiting Paris, France. Jesus brought him back to life while he was on his way to hell. All that he said was “Jesus, save me!” Those are three very powerful words. Please teach your children and grandchildren to say these three powerful words in any emergency situations. Then call 911 or you.

I’m so glad that this professor came back to his body to tell his story. It also gives me hope that there are others who called out to Jesus on their way to hell and perhaps they went straight to heaven rather than back to their bodies… I really, really hope so.
Here is the link to this professor’s story and books for a deeper dive.

The Case for Heaven book also includes many Christian apologists and even philosophers if you’re into that kind of study. (I took a philosophy class in college and disliked it very much.) The book also mentions the many ways that the super-duper rich are doing to buy immortality – in a gist, they are freezing their brains with financial planning in place so that they have their money when they come back. It’s so crazy and creepy. The book also goes into discussions of consciousness and soul from an atheistic and spiritual perspectives. It’s fascinating to read Lee Stroebel’s research and interviews, especially since this topic conversation is happening more with the rise of AI (artificial intelligence).
Here is a recent article on CBN about an oncologist who studied 5,000 cases of NDEs. Wow.

This past week I also have been reading and listening from Christian pastors on how to process the hurt and offense I felt when I saw one particular skit in the Olympic opening ceremony. I greatly appreciated the pastors and bible teachers acknowledge what happened and who also helped me process through my feelings and give guidance. I wasn’t sure what to do with my strong emotions. Pastor Tim DiLena’s message was the best one that I heard. I hope it helps you too if you also have been affected.

I also saw this pretty 16-year-old Olympian skateboarder competing and thought what a beautiful spirit she has. It was nice to see her wear a cross necklace too. I had no idea she was a doing sign language to say Jesus is the way, the truth and life! Please watch her do sign language on the article link. It’s so uplifting.

Whenever strong emotions arise, please do your very best to step back, pray and receive counsel from several mature believers before you make a move or react. I discovered that nothing really needs my immediate response and so please take your time praying, receiving counsel from the Holy Spirit in your quiet time, and running it by good trusted faith friends and leaders in your church community. This disciplined approach to strong emotions will come in handy when your children become teenagers so develop it very well before they become teenagers. Now a days, I think it starts around age 11 or maybe even earlier. 😓
By the way, if you are using a therapist or parent coach to help you navigate parenting challenges, please ask them about their own relationships with their children. If you are paying for their services to help you with your child, I think you should know how successful their relationships are with their children. We ask around before we choose our medical doctors and dentists, so we should also ask before choosing a mental health professional. That’s just good common sense, don’t you think?
“If you read history, you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.” – C.S. Lewis
