Sunday, 8/11 was the last day to watch this show about David for FREE. You can always watch it later for a fee. I saw it and it was really, really good! I had to laugh a little because they made it look like David was being pursued by King Saul for only about a year or so. It was actually 13 long and extremely hard years! This is the reason why he was such an amazing king for Israel during his reign of 40 years. They omitted a lot of key events but I get it; it’s not possible to get everything in one show.

If you want to do a detailed bible study of David, here’s one that just came out from a Bible teacher, Michael Youssef that I really like and respect.
I was also curious to know how much territory that King David and his son, King Solomon had during their reign. Here is an estimate:

King David was an amazing and great king…until he committed sexual sin. This is a great warning for all of us. As I was reflecting on why sexual sin is so much more devastating than other sins, I found these good, biblical articles:

There are great warnings for solo Christians. We don’t know the reasons why King David committed the sexual sin. But I realize watching the theater show that he didn’t have accountability. He would have had accountability if he went to battle where he was supposed to be as king.

Our intercessory prayer group offers accountability and spiritual battlefield. No one is perfect except Jesus Christ in our midst, but our members are faithful, available and teachable (FAT). Everyone needs accountability within the church family, no matter how long you have been a Christian or how many people in your family are believers. Please seek out your small group if you don’t have one yet. Many churches are starting to plan their small community groups for the fall semester. If you don’t belong to a local church, please find one soon. A good friend of mine who moved to Delaware found one just by searching online and visiting a few places before finding her church. She loves her new church and has established herself immediately by joining a women’s prayer group and getting involved with ministry.
“The ministry of intercessory prayer needs to be reemphasized today in the body of Christ . . . We have an abundance of teachers, singers, musicians, worship leaders, and administrators, but a critical shortage of those who will devote themselves to this sacred calling. Not until heaven will we understand the greatness of those who prevailed in prayer for other believers.” – Jim Cymbala
Prayer, my brothers and sisters, must be our first resource. Let us not merely go to God’s door because we have tried everybody else and failed. Let us not go to the fountain simply because the cisterns are exhausted, but let us go to our God first and foremost. – Charles Spurgeon
“Delayed answers to prayer are not only trials of faith, but they give us opportunities of honoring God by our steadfast confidence in Him under apparent repulses.” – Charles Spurgeon
(I shared this message with my pastors. They are all young leaders with young children. Many of them have joined us recently due to many pastors leaving our church.)
Hi Pastors. I hope you understand that I only give you this warning because I care, and from my past experience of seeing great leaders fall from their ministry due to sexual sin.
My college pastor had to step down. I see from social media that my college pastor and his wife are still together (Praise God!) but I see that they are not in ministry.
An anointed founder of this college ministry in the Northeast that my college church was part of stepped down too. I don’t even see his name mentioned in their history page (his name is David but the next in line, Michael is mentioned as the only founder).
This was the college ministry that my church was part of in Binghamton University. We even had worship meetings on our student union hall every Friday night.
About Us
These ministry leaders were incredible and no one would have ever thought that they would commit sexual sin. These two men were your age group with young children and both fell into sexual sin with women in the ministry.
This is why I will never get tired of warning Christian leaders, no matter how solid their faith appears. Sexual sin is incredibly devastating. I believe that is why Jesus spoke so harshly against the church of Pergamum in Revelation 2.
To the Church in Pergamum
12 “To the angel of the church in Pergamum write:
These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword. 13 I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city—where Satan lives.
14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. 15 Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. 16 Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
Our Esther prayer group will keep on praying 🙏. God bless you abundantly.
