Warren Buffett + Dr Bill Davis + Jenn Nizza + Proverbs 31 Ministries + The Ramsey Show + Birthday Prayer and Blessings

Warren Buffet has been in the news recently. He is 94 years old. He is a very wise and successful man in investing and business management. I thought his advice in this article for parents was very good.

This exert from Warren Buffet’s article on CNBC stands out to me:

“In his letter, Buffett recalled that over the years he witnessed “many families driven apart after the posthumous dictates of the will left beneficiaries confused and sometimes angry. Jealousies, along with actual or imagined slights during childhood, became magnified.”

Couple of weeks ago I heard the same advice that Warren Buffet gave in this article from a Christian professor. He delves deeper into this topic and other issues of honoring your aging parents in this two-part interview. I learned a lot from him. He has a very thorough background on this subject matter.

“Dr. Bill Davis is a professor of Philosophy at Covenant College, an adjunct professor at Reformed Theological Seminary, and an elder in the Presbyterian Church. He has spent over two decades on hospital ethics committees, confronting the profound challenges of end-of-life care decisions. He brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and Biblical insight to the topic, and he captured this wisdom in his book,“Departing in Peace.”

It’s important to think about your will and legacy before death and sometimes dementia comes. Both seem to happen without too much warning and so according to this professor, it’s wise to prepare and talk to your adult children. He and his wife are already having these conversations with their adult children now.  Here is his professional website if you want to reach out to him. https://rts.edu/people/dr-william-davis/

As I have been reflecting on the story of the ex-psychic medium who is now a follower of Jesus Christ; I realized that many people miss their loved ones so much or have unfulfilled discussions and regrets that they reach out to mediums in order to connect with their loved ones again. It’s no wonder that mediums are so popular these days. Please be warned that psychics and mediums are dialoguing with demons. If you didn’t hear her story yet when I shared earlier, please give her a listen. It’s not scary, it’s informative. She just wants to share with Christians on what is happening today with the great popularity of psychics and mediums.

In this podcast interview, the guest shared her journey of losing her dad from cancer at the age of 15. She had so much regret because she didn’t have a good closure with her dad before he passed away. Her dad was a Christian and so, the Holy Spirit knew what she needed to hear from her dad after his passing. Her dad mailed a letter to his daughter and she received the closure that she needed to move forward without anger at God or regrets on how she treated her dad. It was a beautiful testimony. Please listen with tissues nearby.

I’ve always loved the book of Proverbs in the Bible. There are many treasures of wisdom in this book on how to live life well. Here is a good devotional by Tony Evans’ ministry if you want to delve deeper into this book.

Speaking about money, I recently heard Ramsey again. He has a financial advising podcast with others who are also experts in mental healthcare. In this podcast, the audience members call in to get financial advice on their problems. Ramsey and his team not only helps them financially but also provides advice on relationship. I thought their advice was good and practical. It was also interesting to hear the dilemmas of their callers who are mostly young men. Ramsey’s mannerism and speech is very different than me and my circle of friends. He makes me chuckle. 🤭

It’s my son’s birthday. As I was looking for a good birthday prayer, I came across this if you want to use it to pray for your children, grandchildren and young people that you minister to. They need our prayers, love and encouragement. 🙏

A Birthday Prayer

Dear Lord, on this day that we celebrate Evan’s birth, I pray for blessings and joy over Evan. You knew everything about him before his birth and You have a plan of prosperity and hope for his life! Let him feel confident and ready for the year ahead knowing that You have an order to his steps and a purpose for his life. Help him to find joy in every circumstance in life, knowing that You work all things out for good. I thank You for Evan – for loving him with unconditional love, and for the promises You have spoken over his life. In Jesus Name, Amen. 🙏
