There have been a lot of unsettling events and tragedies in our country and the world. Whenever things rattle and shake me, I spend a lot of time in the early morning hours listening to what the Lord has to say. Lately, I’ve noticed that my seeking time is less and I am quickly downloaded with directives from the Lord with understanding and clarity on what I need to do.
I hope some of my research and resources shared below will help you to understand and have a long term vision. In order to not overwhelm you I will hold back.
In the first year of leading this prayer group in 2016, an older lady joined our group in the spring semester. She was new to our church and told us that she was a prophet. I had no clue on what to do with that information. Since I was trained from youth in my Korean Confucius-based culture to respect your elders and by then having read the entire Bible 2 or 3 times and seeing that in the Old Testament books, the prophets were taken very seriously and respectfully; I gave her authority over our group. If you know me well enough you know that I am not very authoritative. I’m generally easy to push aside. (On times when you saw me standing firm, it’s only because God told me to stand firm.) Besides, I assumed that God sent her to our group to help and co-lead with me. I had no idea what I was doing. In my naivety, I didn’t even think of consulting with God in prayer about her.
Long story short, it did not go well. Lots of bizarre, unpleasant and strange supernatural things happened. It’s a miracle that I and the core members survived through this time. We only showed up weekly out of sheer obedience to the Holy Spirit.
After that very stressful incident I was just about ready to become a cessationist (they do not believe in the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit since we have the Holy Bible now.) I also started to learn from the well-known Pastor John MacArthur’s Bible teachings which are thorough and excellent. He firmly does not believe in the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit such as prophecy, healing, miracles etc. He is as far away from the Charismatic/Pentecostal theology as you can get. He would even advise against even being too friendly with the Pentecostal believers or attending their church meetings. After my first experience with a prophet I thought his advice was good and safe counsel.
A lot has happened since then. Now I do believe the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today’s modern church. I am led to share this documentary with you about the birth of the Charismatic/Pentecostal movement. Please watch it. It’ll open your eyes to what is possible. Our God can do anything. And when He descends upon his people, supernatural things happen. This documentary will show you some things that happened in the Azusa street revival of California. I attended a teleconference prayer meeting for California when the wildfire was raging. A leader prayed that California would have another Azusa Street Revival. We all agreed with an unanimous “amen”! I’m glad I knew what happened there to agree with this prayer.🙏 This is what Californians need and we as well.
During the pandemic lockdown I finally got to do a deep Bible study on the book of Revelation. As I was studying this last book of the Bible, it opened me up to listen to some modern day prophets. It’s a wild, wild west out there in the world of prophets!! The only prophet that I am comfortable sharing with you is the prophetess, Cindy Jacobs. What I love most about her ministry is her mother’s heart for the church and God’s people. Not only that she has immense accountability around her. It’s not just her family members and friends as I’ve seen many church leaders who fell into scandals only had.
Cindy Jacobs is 73 years old and so, I’m sure if there are any scandals from her nearly 50 years in ministry they would have been uncovered by now. She and her husband still belong to a local church and submit to their church pastoral leadership despite their huge worldwide prophetic ministry. Before she releases a word to her followers, she has vetted her words with many prophets worldwide. Once I saw the list of the prophets, and there were at least 30 names in there.
I came across this excellent interview with Cindy Jacobs. I wish I learned about this in 2016 before my first encounter with a prophet! I’m sure that older lady had the gift of prophecy but unless there’s evidence of accountability, submission and humility I should never have allowed her to take charge of our prayer group. If I seem strict about certain things, it is because of that painful experience and I want to keep us safe. I noticed that there are many ways the supernatural gifts can go off the rails very quickly by well-meaning believers – I noticed that they tend to not have accountability, little or fake humility, or not deeply rooted in the Bible. Ask the leaders that you follow about their daily Bible reading habits. A leader must be reading/studying their Bible every single day. In my opinion this is a nonnegotiable requirement for any church leadership. Since I am a prayer group leader, I read/study the Bible every single day. I follow a Bible reading plan and so I don’t skip the books that I am uncomfortable with (Revelation) or dull (Leviticus).
The late Pastor Derek Prince is a very good Charismatic/Pentecostal Bible teacher. Since the last email I shared about God’s angels, please check out his teaching series on angels.

Here’s a short video clip from Derek Prince about angels escorting a servant of God to heaven at the end of her life. This is one of my key motivations for serving Jesus Christ. I want this lady’s glorious ending when my time comes to an end on earth.
Friends, time on this earth is very short. Even if you are young and have the best healthy body with great healthy habits, you have seen lately how quickly it can end by accidents or evildoers who attack randomly. I urge everyone to consider the primary purpose for your life. If Jesus Christ is not your main priority in life then…I am not sure how your ending will be. Read the Bible and see what Jesus has to say about this.
Please check out these two upcoming conferences hosted by women leaders that I highly respect.
– Joyce Meyer

– Sylane Mack

Both of these women endured many years of sexual abuse growing up. Their stories and victories are supernatural and amazing. In God’s hands, I am amazed how the worst cases of child abuse can turn into glorious testimonies that help millions. Please follow them if you are not already. They will teach you about true, biblical forgiveness with examples from their own life.
Please keep me and our upcoming prayer and intercession meetings in your prayers. Thank you 🙏. Our prayer group starts on Wednesday, February 12th. This spring semester feels serious. I believe that our prayers will protect and keep many people safe.
Extra:
If you have time, please read this explanation on why prophet Elisha (in the Old Testament time) called a bear to maul boys who were mocking him. This account always bothered me. None of the Bible commentaries that I read satisfied my objections. I’m still conflicted but this article explained more the background behind this story and the reasons why. After what Jesus Christ did for humanity on the cross 2025 years ago, we live in the age of grace and mercy. Thank goodness that we were born during the New Testament times!
