Hello friends. I was just listening to RT Kendall’s message and he spoke about Jonathan Edwards. Please make time to hear this message since I just shared about Jonathan Edwards. If you missed it please see my earlier email message below.
In this message by RT Kendall, I was very surprised to learn core lessons that they do not teach in seminary schools. One key lesson that RT Kendall was not taught in his seminary school was on evangelism. I pray that this changes in all seminary schools in our country and worldwide. They are our future pastors.

My college church would host an annual evangelism day where we were out on the streets or campus. I participated with them only to be cooperative and supportive. I was so embarrassed and tried to do the work that had the least visibility. I remember praying about it privately and asking God why I felt so uncomfortable with evangelism. He revealed to me in His soft, gentle voice that it was because I believed that it was better to live one’s life your way, and then receive the ticket to heaven aka “salvation” as late as possible (in your death bed). You know what, God was right. That’s exactly what I believed as a college student.
Friends, what do you do when you’re exposed by God? I should have shared this revelation with my church mentors and friends for their prayers. Instead I didn’t because I wasn’t sure if being saved early was a good thing especially as I was learning how much discipline, humility and self-sacrificing were required. Remember, also that it was the 90s and USA was the greatest and prosperous nation in the world with many opportunities for anyone who was ambitious and hardworking. And I was very ambitious as a first generation college student and immigrant. My goal was to become a professor in a research-focused Psychology department. I have accomplished much as an undergraduate student with publications and even presenting at scientific conferences. I had my eyes set on joining a top graduate program and this time I was going for the top brand names too.
When you follow Jesus Christ, you will always be challenged by the Holy Spirit. Your deepest secrets and selfishness will be revealed. When that happens, please share it with your church mentors and friends for prayers and counsel.
In the last 14 years, like apostle Paul I have learned the secret of being content. It’s actually so much easier and nicer than pursuing my own ambitions. As I see our country and the world shaking in all directions and professions, I am so glad and grateful that my foundation and identity is upon Jesus Christ alone. It is such a blessing and a secure place to be as we journey through this earth for a very, very short time.
Carey Nieuwhof is a Canadian pastor that I learn from often. He was a successful lawyer until God asked him to become a pastor. His tiny, small church had an explosive and exponential growth during his leadership. But he experienced major burnout and his marriage was also failing during that time. Today, he shares very candidly about that distressing time period in order to equip the young church leaders to not make the mistakes he made. He was so burnout at one point that he even considered suicide!

His teachings remind me of the “emotional intelligence” qualities that secular psychologists and therapists are saying that we need to live happily and harmoniously.

(In the news podcast, there’s also a short story about Jonathan Edwards. He was a president of Princeton University at one point. He was a very godly pastor who also led the First Great Awakening in America. His sacrifice for Jesus Christ was exemplary. Like I said before, you don’t have to say yes to God’s plan but if you do, sometimes it requires your life on this earth. Jonathan Edwards passed away in Princeton. Lord Jesus, may Jonathan Edwards ministry and legacy be remembered once again, including in Princeton University. 🙏)

Subject: Corporate prayers
Good morning ladies! It’s been a week since our world has turned upside down. For me, first came “shock and awe” then “daze and doubts” then “fears weakening my heart”. Yesterday morning I prayed with a ministry friend asking for prayers for my sinking faith. Few hours later, this precious faith was deposited into my heart, soul and spirit after I listened to this Times Square Church sermon.
Ladies, please ask for prayers whenever you sense your faith sinking. Imagine your faith like a boat. As the waters come in, you have to actively get the waters out by continual reading God’s word, listening to anointed sermons, and asking for prayers from others. Once your faith boat has been buoyed up then you help another whose faith is sinking. It’s a continual process especially as the waters and the waves around us become bigger and greater.
The Holy Spirit has been speaking to me that I’ve been taught the lessons of corporate prayers the last four years for such a time as this. Corporate prayers are much more powerful and effective than praying alone. This is a fact.
I’ve been experimenting with free conference call this week. I’ll be praying this weekend about the final details and will open it up starting next week. Please stay tuned.
