Amy Carmichael + Spiritual gifts + End times Bible studies + Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics

Hello friends. I’ve heard about Amy Carmichael but never had an opportunity to look into her life’s work. She was a missionary to India 🇮🇳 and because of her writings and work in rescuing children from temple prostitution, the government eventually made this illegal in India.

I watched a very good documentary about her life and work. She was brought into greater spotlight by family members who sued her to get the child back from her protection. It was a seven year legal battle and she won. She kept the child away from the family members who donated the child to temple prostitution. I saw that this publicity even helped her cause, and exposed the truth of temple prostitution for the children and women.

In my Bible studies, I learned about temple prostitution happening in ancient times (research the city in Corinth during Apostle Paul’s time); and I was surprised to learn that this was happening not long ago in India.

When you watch this documentary about Amy Carmichael you will also learn how she heard and obeyed God throughout her life. You will also learn how she dealt with grief, setbacks and great challenges, and demands in ministry.

She did not demonstrate any healing and miracles in her ministry work, but what a huge cultural and social impact she made in India by combating temple prostitution (which is basically legal human sexual trafficking).

One thing that I learned from researching great faith leaders like her is that they all volunteered their lives willingly. They were never coerced. Why am I pointing this out to you? Because I used to believe that following Jesus Christ is doing what you don’t want to do. That’s a lie from hell.

The giants of our faith always served God in their own free will. Sure, they wrestled with fear but like a great military leader; when they received a directive from heaven, they moved forward into the enemy’s territory one step at a time. They were joyful leaders too, and many people followed them and helped their cause because they wanted to, never because they were coerced.

I remember maybe 14 years ago, the Holy Spirit told me very clearly one day, that if I ever want to “feel” Jesus then go find one of his servants working and help them. Jesus will be there and I will “feel” His presence while helping. If you haven’t felt the joy of being near Jesus lately, then I encourage you to find one of his servants working hard and help them. They need all the help and support they can get.

26 If anyone serves Me, he must continue to follow Me [to cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying] and wherever I am, there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. – John 12:26 (AMPC)

After watching Amy Carmichael’s documentary, I thought how nice her community was and that I’d probably enjoy working there. You are surrounded by happy rescued children and a sisterhood of godly women raising them together in the Lord. And having someone like Amy Carmichael leading the team is priceless, especially during the time period when women were regarded far lower than men, and women leaders were very rare.

I also credit her mom for giving her blessings to Amy Carmichael when she shared that God desired her to become a missionary. Her dad passed away early. Back then you might not see your child again (on earth I mean) when they go out as a missionary.

Here’s a brief summary about Amy Carmichael:

This documentary is a children’s version so it’s lighter in its description and darkness on temple prostitution.

I was talking with a friend who is from India and she said that temple prostitution is still happening but it’s in the shadows. She also said that there are influential women in India today who are combating this issue. Let us be praying for them.

As you are serving in the church and God’s work for you, you will discover what you are graced for. Here’s a good article about spiritual gifts.

In the last 15 years of being an active participant in the body of Christ – I discovered that I am a good researcher. My main purpose was so that I won’t get deceived by my gullibility and ignorance. Becoming a Bible scholar is one of the surest ways to not get conned by supernatural, smart and strong personalities.

During the pandemic lockdown, I did my study of the end times from five different sources. I wanted to be very thorough since it is a very important topic. I recommend everyone to learn this Bible subject. You will be amazed and blessed. Here’s a great article and summary of new end times Bible studies.

John Bevere is interviewed by his wife, Lisa about his new book on this topic.

What if preparing for Christ’s return is less about studying prophecy and more about living with purpose today?
In this episode, John shares how his perspective shifted from avoiding end-times teaching to embracing its transformative power. Through personal stories and biblical insight, he reveals how anticipating Christ’s return should inspire us to live intentionally, serve others, and grow in authentic faith. This timely conversation offers a refreshing perspective on readiness—showing how preparation for the King shapes both our present lives and our eternal future.”

I really enjoy reading articles from the Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics. This one is about happiness and rest. Both are elusive and unattainable if you are following the wrong voices. I pray that you are following the voice of Jesus Christ, or at least watching someone close by you who is following Jesus Christ if you want to see what that life looks like. I pray that my life looks abundant and peaceful to both believers and nonbelievers. 🙏

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
