Hello friends. It’s Halloween season and so I want to talk about temptations and occultic practices that can open you to demons. Being a risk-averse person, I realize that one of my big temptation is to play it safe (make decisions based upon risks and self-preservation). Therefore I like to run away from people and positions if the personal cost is too high and jeopardizes my safety and security.
However, not all is bad with being a risk-averse person. I believe God made me this way. In God’s word and under His will, people like us avoid unnecessary suffering by avoiding dangers and traps set up by the devil. While the less-informed forge ahead and suffer greatly for their speedy actions and lack of counsel. Risk-averse people like me are very attracted to God’s word, the Bible once we discover that there are many warnings and guidelines in the Bible to avoid dangers and temptations that will destroy, steal and kill you. Risk-averse Christians are not the most exciting people in God’s church but it’s good to have some friends like me in your life for counsel and prayers.
(Perhaps your temptations are very different from mine. I think it’s wise to ask God in prayer what your temptations are so that you can be prepared ahead of time before the enemy strikes or sets a trap for you.)
I asked a good, mature ministry friend about Peggy Joyce Ruth and her teachings. My friend affirmed that she is a good teacher. There are many ways to open doors to demons during the Halloween season. I played the ouija board game once when I was a young teenager when a church friend passed it to me secretly to play it for the week. I never heard of this game before. My sister and I played it couple of times that week, and we asked innocent questions about our future. It was fun and very exciting to watch the device move around by itself. I wish my youth pastor warned us about these things. I would have definitely stayed away. Or I would’ve connected the dots faster and gone to my youth pastor for help about the tormenting voices in my head.
Soon after, I heard loud voices in my head telling me that life sucks. Everyone and everything sucks. My church, school, friends and family sucks, etc. Life is meaningless and it’s better to die etc. How did I manage to survive these loud voices in my head without going crazy or killing myself? I’m not sure how except by the grace and mercy of God. I’d imagine God’s guardian angels assigned to me was super busy during those years!
Being that it was 1980s, it was also much easier to process the turmoil in one’s mind by getting away to quiet public libraries and by watching network TV shows that were mostly positive and meaningful. Rerun afternoon shows were family friendly and good for the mind – ‘The Little house on the prairie’, ‘Good Times’, ‘Different Strokes’ and such shows were very good to combat the awful lies of the enemy. Evening shows were all decent and had good messages too. Looking back, I don’t think today’s secular therapy and counseling sessions would have helped me much; unless my therapist was a mature, Bible-believing Christian. I highly doubt any synthetic brain medication would have helped me too. What I needed was a good, old-fashioned repentance and deliverance prayer sessions. One or two prayer sessions would have been enough.
I stopped going to my church youth group after the ouija board game incident. The voices spoke lies to me that I was a big burden to my church because I gave little money to them since my parents weren’t members. I became very embarrassed by how little money I gave my church and so I stopped going.
If you have someone close who suffer in their mental health, pray about asking them if they watched or participated in any occultic practices. Even if it was just once for fun, they might’ve opened a door to demons that now needs to be closed properly.
Please watch this very important warning from the Bible teacher, Peggy Joyce Ruth about Halloween. It’s 40 minutes long. If you are short on time, please read the transcript below the video. It’ll take 10 minutes or so.
“Because of ignorance, many Christians unknowingly are involved in occult practices, especially during the Halloween season. It is important we repent and turn from everything God calls evil so we can live under the protection and blessings God provides when we are right with Him.”
You have been warned. And if you dabble in these activities because of your curiosity or peer pressure, at least you know what you can do to get yourself help and freedom. Since it’s a demonic door that opened, you must do spiritual exercises to close the demonic door. Bible teacher, Peggy Joyce Ruth teaches you how to permanently close those doors. I completely understand why Peggy Joyce Ruth is so stern in this message to her audience. She is just trying to help us to avoid being tormented by demons.
She has a podcast if you want to start listening to her older messages. I just started following her podcast. This one was excellent. It’s about Psalm 91.
Please listen to this podcast when you can. There are healing testimonies in there too, including for her eye pain, and her daughter or DIL being healed from lupus. A young lady in her church was almost raped by a stranger in broad daylight but she fought off her attacker with the word of God, and he let her go and fled. Amazing!
If God is calling you to battle for others in your family or church or community, please read this chapter: Section 2 – PREPARING to ENGAGE the ENEMY. There’s a lot of good advice and warnings in there if you are planning offensively for the battles ahead.
Knowledge is much power when battling or contending in the enemy’s stronghold territory. I made plenty of naive mistakes when ministering in my first few years. I’ll share some with you in my future writings.
From my little listening of Peggy Joyce Ruth’s life, it seems she was spiritually attacked as a young woman when she went over to her neighbor’s house to evangelize. She said she suffered for several years with severe depression and anxiety afterwards! When I find a video or writing of this testimony of this experience, I’ll share it with you. Just so we are aware that we can face severe attacks when we go into the enemy’s territory without knowledge of a counter strike or how to fight back.
May God richly reward you and your family for your obedience, sacrifices and growth in wisdom. In Jesus’s grace and power, 🙏💪🔥❤️🙏
In case anyone is interested, here’s data from the American Bible Society on what Americans say about spiritual warfare. It was very interesting information to look through. When I face spiritual attacks, my gift of tongue is very powerful and effective. I highly recommend you to ask for this spiritual gift if you don’t have it yet.
Hello ladies! It’s amusing to read my old writings. We are all tempted and we have an enemy who has studied us and knows how to tempt us with the right bait. Knowing this, we really need to start our day with the Lord before the day begins. However God is greater than our unbelief, frailties and weaknesses. Just stay put and don’t stray away from our Great Shepherd. Jesus will never discard a broken reed or snuff out a smothering ember. Instead, He will come and revive us. So just stay where you are and wait.
Yesterday I was thinking about the reason why there are battling seasons in our lives. Then I saw that I talked about it in my old post below. 🙂 Yes, it is for our own benefit and good. Psalm 144 is my go-to prayer in the battlefield.
If you are caught in a long, drawn-out battling season and tempted to give up in following/believing Jesus, please be honest and pray for wisdom, strength and encouragement. I recall one time my encouragement came from Peter’s resolve to follow Jesus when many disciples left. We don’t think about this but Peter probably lost many friends on that day too.
John 6:66-69
66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”
Isaiah 42:3
A broken reed He will not break [off] And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish [He will not harm those who are weak and suffering]; He will faithfully bring forth justice.

Good morning ladies! Attached is the next chapter from the “Power of the Praying Wife” book by Stormie Omartian.
As you are reading this chapter and saying out loud the prayers for your husband, it is also important to search your heart and pray for yourself too. Your temptations may be different than your husband’s but we are all tempted.
The first year establishing and leading the prayer group at PAC was incredibly hard for me. I encountered so much spiritual warfare. Because of the extra attention I was receiving from the enemy, it made me look into studying prayers, and why corporate intercessory prayer is such a threat to the enemy.
I admit that I was very tempted to give this up. This is volunteer work after all. Then one morning, the Holy Spirit shared a deep insight with me and urged me onwards to persevere and not give up. Israel’s great King David was supposed to go into battle for his country every spring with his warriors. However one season, he decided to stay behind in the palace. Then one night in the palace, he saw the beautiful, married Bathsheba bathing on the rooftop and he wanted her badly enough to steal her and then kill her husband later to cover his sin. His family’s dynasty and destiny will never be the same.
God made us and so He knows all our weaknesses and shortcomings. I received wisdom that going into the Battlefield for the Lord is a safeguard for me! If the Lord is calling you, your husband or your children into a Battlefield for His Kingdom, do not discourage them to disobey His calling. Support your family members because it may save them from bigger and greater downfalls.
Please do continue to pray for your spiritual leaders and staff. I’m still new to leadership so please pray for me. I need all the help and prayers I can get! Excuse me for my shortcomings too. I’m a work in progress as we all are. 😅😓Thank you!
I remember a story this pastor’s wife shared. She was involved in full time ministry alongside her husband for many years. She was burnt out with a capital B! She was preparing to exit from her ministry when she visited heaven. Whether in her dream or vision, I’m not certain. She reunited with her family members who have passed away and in heaven now. Each family member encouraged her and said to her “Our time serving the Lord is over. We know it’s not easy but He is worth it! He is worth it! Jesus is worth it!”
After this visitation to heaven and encouragement from her family members who served the Lord on earth; she got her wind back on her sails again. Not too long after, their church in Toronto, Canada received a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit great signs and miracles, and thousands of people getting saved. Check out this article about the Toronto Blessing 20 years after and still continuing.
Let us keep on believing in our Almighty God who can do mightily and more than we can imagine or think. I went off a bit, please don’t forget to read the attached chapter and pray for your husband. With love and prayers, ❤️🙏
