Tim Keller’s reflection on prayer:
This was an excellent article about the late pastor Tim Keller’s reflection about our struggle with prayer. I have my struggles too and so, it gave me comfort to know that a hero of mine struggled the same way. (Billy Graham said the same thing as well when he was reflecting upon his life’s work. Prayers are that important to these two giants of faith. We should follow their example and understand more about prayer.)
“In fact, not long before his death, Keller was asked if, looking back on nearly fifty years of ministry, there’s anything that he would have done differently. “Absolutely,” he replied. “I should have prayed more.”
I would have loved to have known about Tim Keller’s church when I was a young professional working in NYC in the 90s. Back then the internet was just starting out for the public sector, and so I didn’t know how to use the World Wide Web yet. I am a late adopter of technology.

Doing business God’s way:
I just heard an interview with this super smart businessman, John Kim who attended Tim Keller’s church. His name and voice sounds Korean. He graduated from Harvard, and got his PhD at MIT. It sounds like he is a venture capitalist. What stood out to me from the interview is that he is a charismatic/pentecostal in his faith affiliation. Remember, the pentecostals are the ones who really embrace the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit. You don’t see too many academic conservatives in this area of Christian faith. Please give him a listen and hear how the Holy Spirit directs him in his business decisions and personal real estate dealings too. It was fascinating. It makes you think for sure. He is also open about his faith in the workplace. He is a good light in the business world.

Mental illness and spiritual warfare:
Recently I discovered a new podcast of Christian stories. On this interview with a clinical therapist, she talks about spiritual warfare and mental illness. Here’s the description:

Last week I saw a Masonic building in a historic neighborhood’s Main Street. Then the next day I heard this interview with Lisa Bevere. She mentioned that her late grandfather was a Freemason. Once she learned about his deep involvement, she was urged by a ministry friend to renounce his covenant made with them to set herself and her descendants free.
I’m a Korean immigrant so the information about the Freemasons are new for me. But I just thought you should be warned about the Freemasons especially since I read in secular news that it’s having a comeback with the young Gen Z men.
In the past, it seems the Freemasons were mostly influential and privileged white men. Today, Gen Z men of all races are gravitating towards this group, not knowing the spiritual significance of what they are opening themselves and their future descendants up to in the spiritual realm.

About 15 years ago, I am reminded of repenting and renouncing for my family members’ reliance upon Asian fortune tellers. Shamans and fortune tellers are entrenched in Korea history and culture even today. I think it’s good to do these kinds of prayers when led by the Holy Spirit even if you had nothing to do with the family members’ sins. Something is happening in the spiritual realm that is important.
Lisa Bevere was asked why she thinks so many Christians are complacent about not doing the work required for deliverance prayers. She thinks it’s laziness. I’m not sure if it’s laziness or ignorance or demonic spiritual blindness or fear of demons. Whatever it is, I know that repentance and renouncing past generational sins are important for today’s and future freedoms. Besides that from my experiences the Holy Spirit takes you one step at a time. He is very aware that I have responsibilities and nonbelievers (husband and children) living with me. So please don’t be afraid to take time to listen and learn, and do the work of deliverance prayers of repentance and renouncing past generational sins.
A friend who is British but originally from Zimbabwe recommended the late pastor Derek Prince to learn more about these topics. I heard this message again and it is still very powerful and thought provoking. He talked briefly about Freemasonry in here. It’s long but you should listen to the whole message. Since it’s a deep and unfamiliar subject for many Christians in first world countries.

Soul Care:
This was very good too. I’ve heard of Soul Care program. A church friend mentioned that she did it and had amazing experience. It seems like a very deep and thorough process that blends therapy, spiritual healing and deliverance. It’s worthwhile to hear this interview with the person who developed Soul Care.

John MacArthur’s passing:
Many of you have heard the news about pastor John MacArthur’s passing. There was a period of time when I learned a lot from him and I almost became a cessationist because of his teachings. A cessationist is basically someone who believes that the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit have stopped once the original 12 apostles’ passed away; and since we have the Holy Bible, there’s no need for the supernatural gifts.
The reason why I abruptly stopped learning from John MacArthur is because I started to read about his very poor judgment in handling abuse cases in his church. I used to be a hard core feminist and so it was very hard to learn from him afterwards. I know that he’s highly respected in the evangelical church community for his extensive knowledge of Bible history, the many books he wrote and his well-regarded Bible commentary collection.
Now that he passed away and in case more people come forward with their stories, I want you to be aware of the controversy. I remember being in so much shock when Ravi Zacharias passed away and his sexual predatory behaviors and his victims came out. Here is a brief summary report about John MacArthur’s poor handling of abuse victims in his church:
Healing scriptures:
Since I am open to the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit, I am leaning in to understand and hear stories from people who have experienced the supernatural more. Sid Roth’s guests have supernatural stories of healing, visiting heaven, having angels visit them, etc. Sometimes their stories are so outrageous, I really don’t know what to think. If anyone needs healing in their bodies, please download their free healing scriptures booklet. I looked through it and they are all bible verses on healing. Try what they say. It doesn’t hurt to meditate and pray using these good scriptures.
